I have always been passionate about learning and also about keeping myself and my family fit and healthy. Naturally, a career in the fitness industry seemed like a great fit.

I began researching all the schools and colleges offering Certificate III and IV in Fitness and spoke with people in the industry about life as a fitness professional. I booked a spot at a career change seminar at the PT Academy in Prahran. I ended up spending an hour or so with China Richardson from the PT Academy. He introduced me to all the staff and gave me an in depth insight into the teaching philosophies and training methods used at the PT Academy. After that meeting, I knew I would be a Personal Trainer and I knew the PT Academy was where I would receive the best education and support.

I began the Certificate III in November 2015. I loved it! As I was studying on line it allowed me to work through the modules at my own pace, still juggling home duties and the care of my two kids. I thoroughly enjoyed the course content especially the focus on the psychology of behaviour change. I began to see possibilities of assisting people with changing their bodies and minds through the avenue of fitness and movement.

I attended the Certificate III practical workshops in May of this year. It was fantastic meeting and connecting with the other students and to finally meet the staff I had spoken too so often via phone. I completed the Cert III and felt well on my way to a new career in the fitness industry.

I began the Certificate IV practical workshops not long afterwards in June. Naturally, the content was more in depth and challenging. The course educators were passionate, experienced and enthusiastic, making for a fantastic learning environment. All the students gained a fantastic insight into what it was going to take to perform well once qualified and working in the industry. I passed the practical assessment and felt fantastic!

I have learnt so much about the body and mind, how to assist others in reaching their fitness and movement goals. I’ve connected with so many like-minded individuals, made professional connections within the industry and look forward to developing these relationships into the future. I’ve only just begun but feel as though I’ve had the best possible start.

I’m now in the process of submitting my final assessment and thoroughly looking forward to my new career as a personal trainer.

Thanks and Be Well!
