At PT Academy, we have made it our mission to educate fitness professionals at every level to give them the tools they will need to have thriving careers in fitness and help their clients rewrite their fitness stories. This mission requires us to be open and welcoming to people at every stage of their story, and to people who still have certain mindsets and mental blocks will need to overcome to find success. We do this happily and with pleasure, knowing that our work is helping our clients to rewrite their fitness stories to be the best they possibly can be.

Using the lessons we teach them, PT Academy alumni educate their students and clients on how to become the best versions of themselves, both physically and mentally. The personal trainers we educate go on to have amazing careers in the fitness industry, passing on their knowledge of mental and physical fitness and helping clients around the world change their fitness stories. Though we focus heavily on physical fitness here at PT Academy, we know it is equally as important to be of sound mind and to have a positive attitude if you are going to succeed at anything in life.

One of the ways we support our students is by helping them overcome mental blocks and limiting beliefs that prevent them from trying new things or reaching for their dreams. We help our students break down the barriers they create for themselves and self-motivate to do what they didn’t think was possible for themselves. In turn, our alumni help their clients do the same, changing “I can’t” to “I did it” repeatedly.

Negative Thinking Leads to Negative Living

Mental blocks are created by our minds, developed by false beliefs and negative self image to prevent us from doing anything that could be embarrassing or uncomfortable. Unfortunately, a little bit of discomfort is necessary for growth, making it difficult to identify which types of negative feelings are productive and nonproductive.

True negative thinking, mental blocks, or self-created limiting beliefs lead to negative living, forcing individuals to conform to their perceived ability. Discomfort is a positive-negative feeling, signifying that you are growing and taking on a new challenge. One path leads to stagnation and discomfort, the other to growth and a sense of satisfaction; even if there is a little discomfort at the beginning of the journey, it’s part of the process of helping clients rewrite their fitness stories.

Taking Your Career to the Next Level

At PT Academy, many of our students are established fitness professionals looking for a change or new spark in their careers. We help our students reinvigorate their passion for fitness and helping people and help them determine where they should go on their career journey.

Some of our students express feelings as though they are stuck or unable to move beyond a certain point in their lives. At PT Academy, we help students overcome this feeling and rewrite the stories they thought were pre-written for them. There is no limit to what you can do, and there is no reason you can’t pivot your career or change paths to create the story you want to create.

This is also a philosophy we teach our students to impart to their clients since many people seeking help from fitness professionals feel that they won’t be able to change for themselves. As personal trainers, we often help our clients rewrite their stories and reach new parts of themselves they never even knew existed.

Overcoming Your Own Mental Limit

Overcoming and setting aside your fears, unconscious anxieties, and worries is easier said than done, and many of us struggle to succeed due to negative thinking patterns. Feeling inadequate or falsely believing that something is inherent in ourselves that makes us unable to do certain things can be powerful deterrents, preventing many of us from even attempting to live out our dreams.

To help you learn how to identify your own mental limitations and help you to identify thought patterns that inhibit potential in others, we’ve designed a course to teach you to become a successful mindset performance coach. The Behaviour Change in Exercise course will help you break down barriers preventing you from achieving your goals and will help you to become a better coach, teacher, and motivator.

Reach More Clients – Become A Presenter

Suppose you have been wanting to rewrite your fitness career story and want to pivot away from personal training to reach a wider audience. In that case, you should consider taking our Powerful Presenting for Fitness Professionals continuing education course. As fitness pros, we don’t always feel super comfortable speaking in front of an audience and might feel a little more comfortable demonstrating an exercise or getting a group pumped up for a workout. The Powerful Presenting course is designed to help you break out of your comfort zone and learn to speak to large groups, engage an audience, and share lessons with a crowd.
