TRX RIP Training……what is it? And how can it help you build a stronger CORE?
The Rip Trainer is a resistance (bungy) cord connected to a lever bar. Using the TRX Rip Trainer we can train the CORE for producing rotation, controlling stability, producing power, training strength, balance & coordination, increasing mobility and metabolic conditioning – HIIT.
I see so many trainers having their clients perform traditional core exercises such as sits ups, leg raises and Russian twists. If you’ve been staying up to date with the latest research findings; (look up Professor Stuart McGill) you’ll know that these exercises place excessive load on our disks and lumbar spine. (over time, sit-ups can increase the risk of bulging disks or disk herniation). My background is martial arts, we used to perform these exercises till the cows came home! Every now and then I get a twinge in my lower back, I know that if I train my clients this way, I’m eventually going to break them. I don’t want to break my clients – I want them healthy, happy and strong!
Your CORE is designed for two things:
1. Controlling Stability
2. Producing Rotation
– Controlling Stability protects our spine from injury. If you have a weak core and perform a 1RM dead-lift/Squat there is a chance of injury. There may also be power leakages at our hips and shoulders, meaning you aren’t using your body as well as you could.
– Producing Rotation is performed in every day life and sport. Think of throwing a ball or a punch. We need to train the core for these movements. If I had used the TRX RIP Trainer when competing, I guarantee that my kicks and punches would have seen a ten fold increase in explosive POWER!
On the TRX RTC (Rip Training Course), we’ll teach you the skills and knowledge to effectively and safely implement correct techniques for core training utilising the TRX Rip Trainer.
