In this crowded Personal Training market it can seem like it’s mission impossible when it comes to standing out from the crowd, competing with all those other trainers. How do you specialise? Do you focus on a specific type of training, or a specific type of client? Having a great story and great presentation skills will set you apart from the rest.
Do you need some kind of mystical wizardry? Looking at Instagram and Facebook, it may seem like their is NO way for you to get where you want to go, it’s like its all been done before!! UGH!
I’ll let you in on a little secret that will change the way you look at competition and the way you look at your self. You can eliminate competition by tuning into and embracing the AMAZING YOU and uncovering those special gifts that can help EXACTLY the type of client that is right for you.
You don’t have to be anything other than who you are. You do need to get clear about all the cool stuff that makes up who you are AND you do need to communicate that effectively. Once you uncover the magic that IS you, then you will attract the types of clients that would LOVE to work with you.
I know, your probably thinking, why would anyone listen to boring dribble about me? I get it, and to an extent your right, they don’t care about you. (Well not as much as they care bout themselves anyway) BUT they do care about how you can help them. If your experience resonates with them it will ignite something inside of them that says, “hey, this guy or girl gets me, and I can trust them.”
SO, let’s delve in, grab a cup of green tea and a note pad and answer these questions. Now it’s time to get that story down on paper! Don’t second-guess or over analyse your answers. These facts will make up your personal story, which will be one of the most valuable tools for your business.
- How did you get started?
- What are achievements are you proudest of?
- What is your WINNER story?
- What life events made the biggest impact on where you are NOW?

- What are your NINJA skills? (Stuff ONLY you are good at)
Writing your story can take some time, you may go through several versions and you also might use a different version depending on your audience.
Here are some tips to CRAFTING your story
- Share a relevant experience that you learned from that your audience (potential clients) would benefit from.
- Go way back! What did you learn when you were a kid about what you do now?
